Statement

Artist Statement

Imagery that implies a sacred or exceptional presence interests me. By creating embellishments on a figure, I can explore and express emotional conundrums through the language of the mythos. Being an avid devourer of stories has fed my love of narrative in my work. I use these psychological archetypes to reflect on post-modern societal issues like social anxiety, imposter syndrome, and body autonomy.
Some pieces represent a sense of sublime, inner peace, and celestial realms while others focus on empowerment, bravery, and self-assurance. There is a journey of meditating on the internal of the self and the universality of humankind and spirituality. Forces complement, rather than struggle with, one another: the interior meets the exterior, the celestial meets the earthly.
